Pensieve (the “Service”) is a voice note-taking app: speak a thought, and it is
transcribed and saved as a memory you can later find by meaning. We respect your
privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following only when you actively use the Service. We do not
collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
Voice recordings — the audio captured while you hold the mic and speak.
Text transcripts — text transcribed from your recordings that you choose to save.
Semantic embeddings — numerical vectors derived from your transcripts, used to power semantic search and “related memories.”
Anonymous account ID — the Service uses anonymous sign-in; a random account ID is issued so your memories belong to you. It contains no real-world identity and cannot be linked back to you.
2. How We Use This Information
To transcribe your recordings into text.
To store your memories (transcripts and audio) so you can read and play them later.
To compute embeddings that enable semantic search and related memories.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we never sell or rent it.
3. Third-Party Services
To provide the Service, we share data with the following processors:
OpenAI — your recordings are sent to OpenAI for speech-to-text, and your
transcripts are sent to OpenAI to compute embeddings. Per OpenAI’s API policy, data sent via
the API is not used to train its models. See the
OpenAI Privacy Policy.
Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage (your transcripts,
embeddings, and recordings) are hosted on Supabase. See the
Supabase Privacy Policy.
4. Data Storage & Security
All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS (TLS).
Your memories are stored on Supabase; recordings are kept in private storage that requires authorization to access.
Row Level Security is enabled so the public anon key cannot directly read or write your data.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Your memories are retained until you delete them. You can delete everything directly in
the app at any time: tap Settings → Delete all memories, which
permanently erases all your memories, recordings, and the account itself. This cannot be undone.

6. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
